Event Details

Have you had this conversation?

Person: You are so inspiring. You should write a book.

You: While I am flattered that my ability to grocery shop inspires you, I think it would make for a pretty boring book.

Person: You don’t have to be so rude! *walks away*

You to you: I do kind of want to write though . . .

Yes? Then this weekend-long writing workshop is for you. Whether your goal is to write a non-fiction piece decrying inspiration porn, a flash fiction story for a magazine, or your own scandalous memoir, a few tricks of the trade will make the blank page before you a little less intimidating.

New and seasoned writers are welcome to join Lisa Hislop, a professional fiction editor, to learn a little bit about all the stages of the writing process:

  • Four different ways to get the ideas out of your head and onto the page
  • The importance of a shitty first draft
  • The difference between the writer’s job and the editor’s job
  • How to share your writing

This workshop is guaranteed to be more inspiring than your average random grocery story interaction.
