This role of Digital Strategist requires somebody to lead our organization in ensuring we are meeting the needs of the community we serve and our partners through digital communications, specifically via our corporate website yvr.ca. 

We are looking for somebody who has the technical knowledge to ensure we are leveraging the technology effectively, but also has creative insights into how to best connect with people across the digital landscape. Our ideal candidate is a hybrid individual who understands how the various tools work and operate but can also take the platforms one step further by layering on campaign applications, exploring innovative new tools and collaborating with all of our partners in this space – those updating and operating the back-end platforms, technology providers, business partners and of course our end users and audience. 

Position overview 

The Digital Strategist will be accountable for leading the overall strategy for YVR’s external corporate website, yvr.ca, ensuring it is meeting the needs of our passengers and community, optimizing efficiency and accuracy through governance and compliance to federal regulations while also supporting overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading any new development work or upgrades needed to overall website or individual website programs as required including coding and software implementation.
  • Collaborating across the organization to ensure all departments’ business objectives are being supported and advanced by our external digital channels.
  • Optimizing UX and UI capabilities on our digital channels to ensure the best possible digital passenger experience.
  • Working with Communications, Digital Content and Design team to curate, create and execute on content and campaigns to support the organization and our external partners.
  • Lead the overall strategic direction of our external digital platforms through any new builds, overhauls or revamps of existing sites and their functionality.
  • Analyzing user behavior data and industry best practices to optimize YVR’s online channels for interface performance and usability.

Key qualifications include:

  • Three years of experience overseeing multi-faceted, public-facing digital channels, preferably for a major infrastructure, transportation, or government organization.
  • Advanced UX/UI insights and experience in real world application.
  • Understanding of coding, content management systems and user/consumer digital behavior.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to take an original idea from conception to execution.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position. Salary Range : $68,011 to $88,886 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
