YVR is a place of connection, bringing together people, places and cargo while ensuring a safe and efficient experience for everyone. The Emergency Planning department collaborates with many agencies and organizations to ensure there is alignment in emergency management programming and processes. 

Position overview 

Do you have experience initiating, developing, and delivering emergency management and business resiliency programs? As an Emergency Planning Specialist, you will work with airport community partners, including airlines, commercial tenants, contractors, and government agencies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage the airport community at all levels to embed emergency management and resilience awareness into everyday operations and continue to build organizational resilience
  • Lead logistics planning and execution for various emergency management and resilience initiatives across the organization 
  • Continue development and ongoing maintenance of an asset management program for life safety equipment; this includes identifying opportunities for improvement and taking a lead in project initiation and management
  • Work with other departments, projects, and vendors to ensure life safety equipment is always available for use in all places it could be needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to support emergency and business resiliency for the organization, including leading committees related to mass notification, equipment supplies and project development

Key qualifications include:

  • University degree or College Diploma in Emergency Management, or Business Continuity. 
  • Progressive experience in an operations or airport environment, with a minimum of two years’ experience in emergency and/or disaster management.
  • Proven experience working and leading in an emergency context.
  • Understanding of the foundation of the ICS/IMS structure and the ability to apply it within a program setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time in a high paced environment and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners and stakeholders while demonstrating empathy and patience

Salary Range : $72,008 to $94,115 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
