Independent Living Canada (IL Canada) is a national registered charity with over 30 years of history. IL Canada is run by people with disabilities for people with disabilities. We lead a nationwide network of independent Living Centres and community partners in building an inclusive and accessible Canada for persons with disabilities.

We operate on the philosophy of the Independent Living Movement which affirms the right of persons with disabilities to control their own lives and live independently. Twenty-four Independent Living centres deliver services that contribute to the empowerment of individuals. These services include Information and Networking, Peer Support, Independent Living Skills Development, and Research & Community Development. Purpose of Position

The purpose of this project is to consult with Canadians from Coast to Coast to Coast to reach hard-to-reach Canadians with disabilities so that they can have a voice in the creation of the Federal Governments Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

There are four pillars under which input is required: Income Security, Employment, Public Spaces, and Modernizing the way the Federal Government offers supports and services to people with disabilities. Each pillar has a lead organization that will be conducting consultations. The role of the Project Coordinator is to work with these four organizations to complete the consultations, submit a report that outlines what we have heard, and provide recommendations to the Federal Government.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain good project reference on all paperwork, including detailed notes, and regular communication.

• Proactively building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and pillar leads to further the objectives of the project.

• Research relevant reports, standards, and emerging practices.• Complete data collection, gap analysis and reporting as related to the project.

• Coordinate and support all virtual consultations.• Collect and prepare content to be shared via social media for the purposes of engaging project stakeholders.

• Report status of activities regularly to the Steering Committee.

• Manage the budget, ensuring expenses are reported accurately and used responsibly; and

• Successfully completing project activities on time, according to the work plan.

Demonstrable Qualifications:

• Strong technical aptitude, social media, software, and data platforms.• Graduate degree in a relevant field or the demonstration of equivalent skills and abilities in project management.

• Successful record of accomplishment in financial and budgetary management, marketing, public relations.

• Experience and knowledge of disability issues.

• Problem solving, resourceful, excellent time management and organization skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

• A high level of professionalism and integrity.

• Ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and good judgement.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a changing environment.

• Strong team player and relationship builder.As this role is remote, the successful candidate will be required to have access to a reliable internet connection.
