Created in partnership with sexual health clinicians from the Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, our new Sexual Health Peer Mentorship program aims to connect peers with others who have experience in dating, relationships, fertility, intimacy and all things sexual health related.

Learn more about our mentors and how you can get involved below.

Meet some of the sexual health peer mentors from our community! These peer mentors have received training in peer mentorship and sexual health and are happy to share information, answer questions, discuss concerns and offer non-judgemental peer support. Our peer mentors are available to connect one-on-one by request.

If you’d like to learn more about the program, get in touch with a mentor, or if you’re interested in being a sexual health peer mentor, please reach out to Rachel Nicoletti at or Teri Thorson at

Sexual Health Peer Mentors

Name: Sheryl

Bio: My name is Sheryl Rose Newman and I have a T2-T7 incomplete, non-traumatic, spinal injury resulting from an AV malformation. I had my injury almost 23 years ago, that’s half of my life. I am a mother of two very active boys and I devoted the past 10 years taking care of them. I am actively involved with disability organizations such as SCI BC, Rick Hansen Foundation, Langley Pos-Abilities Society and South Fraser Active Living Group. I love watching movies (and binge watching), listening to music, playing the guitar and playing games. I also love having adventures with my boys and exploring new places.

Name: Darren

Bio: I have a C3 incomplete quadriplegic injury of nine years. I’m active (as I can be) with dog walking, hiking, mountain biking, biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, boating, gardening and cooking. All of which are excellent distractions for how much my body hurts! Haha. What else? I have a ridiculously high sex drive and I like sunset walks on the beach … OK, made myself laugh there. Seriously though, I am very excited to be a part of this project and I look forward to being a peer mentor to others.
