There are many ways to give to SCI BC. Use the toggles below to learn how you can contribute.

However you decide to give, know that you’re helping people with spinal cord injuries and related disabilities regain their independence and thrive in their communities.

Leave a Lasting Legacy

The most common form of legacy giving is through a bequest of cash or a percentage of your estate as defined in your will. You may wish to contribute to a specific program and in this case, the named beneficiary should be the Canadian Paraplegic Association (B.C.) – which operates as “Spinal Cord Injury BC”.

Your estate will receive a tax receipt for the value of the gift, which can be used to offset tax otherwise payable. We would greatly appreciate being notified of a bequest in your will so that we can thank you.

Making a donation of securities instead of cash enables you to take full advantage of legislation that makes gifts tax-free for you. You will receive a tax receipt for the full value of the appreciated securities but will pay no tax on the growth of the securities.

The tax receipt can be used to shelter other income by reducing the tax payable on capital gains. A gift of securities is also an effective way to dispose of publically traded securities that have depreciated as well.

In-Memory Giving

Remember life’s important milestones, such as a death of a loved one, a wedding, birthday or anniversary by making an In Memoriam monetary donation to Spinal Cord Injury BC.

On receiving your gift, SCI BC will notify the honoured person or their next of kin that you made this donation. You will also receive a tax receipt for the full amount of your donation.

Make your In Memoriam Gift today or contact Tillie King at or 604-326-1204 for more information.

Spinal Cord Injury BC (SCI BC) greatly appreciates receiving non-monetary gifts (gifts-in-kind) to support the work it does with people with spinal cord injury in British Columbia. Gifts-in-kind include items such as property, equipment, prizes for events, supplies for events, and electronics amongst other items.

If you have something at your home or business that you think SCI BC could benefit from please contact Shelley Milstein at or 604-326-1222.

Create a lasting legacy in the name of your family or loved one by establishing a fund where the capital remains intact. Annual interest earned can benefit a specific Spinal Cord Injury BC program, event or resource. The BC Paraplegic Foundation should be named for endowments.

Residual Interest Gifts

Give the gift of real estate or property without giving up ownership. A residual interest gift is an arrangement where you irrevocably give real estate or personal property to the BC Paraplegic Foundation for a specified number of years.

Donate a Car

Donate a Car Canada accepts Vehicle Donations for Spinal Cord Injury BC.  Free towing is provided in most areas across Canada, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation. When you donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or motorcycle to Spinal Cord Injury BC through Donate A Car Canada, it will either be recycled or sold at auction (depending on its condition, age and location). Donate a Car Canada will look after all the details to make it easy for Spinal Cord Injury BC to benefit. After your vehicle donation is complete, our charity will send you a tax receipt and will put your gift to good use.
