Originally from a small farm town in the Okanagan, Micaela has lived in the lower mainland for 6 years now and calls it home. She has a BA from SFU in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies. Micaela first joined SCI BC in the summer of 2018 as a student, and now continues to work as part of our Communications team.
Micaela has worked with a variety of disability and feminist non-profit organizations around the province and within the lower mainland. As someone with a physical disability, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), affecting her in ways similar to that of a SCI, Micaela is proud to work with an organization that supports the disability community.
When she’s not planning community events in her spare time, she can usually be found binge watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race, brunching, or reading a good book.
At Spinal Cord Injury BC, Micaela curates blog content, crafts the Peer newsletters, keeps up our social media channels, designs graphics for communications material, and a variety of other communications tasks as they arise.
