Karen Gillespie is SCI BC’s Associate Director of Finance & Operations. She holds a BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and is a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) with over 20 years of experience. All acronyms aside, her experience working in public practice, industry, and not-for-profit make her an obvious choice for SCI BC.
Karen currently serves as a treasurer on two not-for-profit boards and mentors other CPAs through the CPA mentor program. She is passionate about giving back and is thrilled to be able to use her skills as an accountant to help guide others through her many endeavours.
Karen was born in Uganda and also lived in England and New Zealand while growing up – all of which contributed to her love of travel, different cultures, and animals.
When Karen isn’t at her computer or the board table, she enjoys gardening and spending as much time as possible with her adult children, husband, and dog. Karen’s three cats, Twilight, Bella, and Luna (no affiliation to the Stephanie Meyer hit) round out the family – providing much joy and many fur embellished articles of clothing.
