Our Vision
All British Columbians with spinal cord injury (and related disabilities) and their families have the support and knowledge they need to live well and be active participants in their communities.
Our Mission
To help people with spinal cord injury (and related disabilities) and their families adjust, adapt, and thrive as they deal with a new injury or struggle with the ongoing challenges of living and aging with a physical disability.
Our Values
We believe in a core set of values that help guide our work. You can read more about our organizational values here.
As a non-profit organization, we achieve our Vision and Mission through two core programs: Peer Support Services and Information Services.
Peer Support Services
Our Peer Program provides social connections and unique life experiences to individuals with a spinal cord injury or a related disability, and their families and friends. We also provide peer mentoring opportunities, so that people with new injuries can benefit from the wisdom and knowledge gained by those who have experience living with a similar disability.
More than half of Spinal Cord Injury BC’s staff are people with physical disabilities, so we really understand what our members are going through and just get it.
Information Services
Our Info Centre helps people access all kinds of information relevant to living well with a spinal cord injury. People can search our online SCI Info Database, or connect with our InfoLine toll-free, Monday to Friday at 1-800-689-2477 or info@sci-bc.ca.
Whether someone needs help finding accessible housing, meaningful employment, special equipment or any other resources about living with a physical disability in BC, we’re here to help.
