Ryan Clarkson, Team Captain of SCI BC’s Vancouver Mainland Team

Can you introduce yourself and give us three fun facts your team should know about you?

My name is Ryan and I am the Peer Program Specialist for Metro Vancouver. I have been with SCIBC for 7 years and work both at the GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, and in the community as well.  I have been to 40 National Parks, I once bowled a perfect game in bowling at the age of 15, and I play a mean harmonica.

What are you looking forward to in this year’s Charity Challenge?

I am excited to both reconnect with past participants, and to meet some new ones as well. It is always great to be around people that want to give back to the community. I am also looking forward to leaving some of my colleagues in the dust.

Why should people support SCI BC?

We do a lot with a little, which during these times is a lot to be proud of. Not only do we support our members in the community with physical disabilities, but we support their families as well. To be able to offer both emotional support and fun things to do in the community is a great benefit to society. Also, we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and a lot of what we do involves getting outdoors as well!

Any words of encouragement for your team?

Dust off the wheels and sneakers and let’s get active! What can be better than getting in shape and giving back to the community at the same time!!
