Description: Mental health struggles, grief and comparison are common among individuals with incomplete SCIs—whether it’s mourning lost abilities, dealing with setbacks or feeling pressure after a remarkable recovery. This session will explore how to honour the hard days, process complex emotions, and reframe comparisons to foster a perspective of appreciation and self-acceptance.

Takeaways:

  1. Learn to navigate the “funk” and understand why difficult emotions are valid.
  2. Develop tools to manage grief and expectations, particularly around ongoing challenges like bowel, bladder or genital function.
  3. Shift your perspective on comparison, seeing it as a tool for appreciation rather than self-judgment.
