This program uses specially modified, fully accessible two-person kayaks, with fully trained paddlers to ensure you get the best from the experience.
There are pontoons fitted to the rear of our kayaks for stability, and the cockpits are lengthened by 13-inches to make transfers more comfortable. There is also a paddle support on the top of the kayak and, for people with limited grip strength, a system by which the paddle clips onto wrist bands (modified rollerblade wrist guards). There is also a second kayak used in a ‘spotting’ role during sessions as an added safety consideration.
Participants access the kayak from a purpose-built dock, either by a lift or self-transfer via a board, and set out into the calm waters of False Creek.
There are also accessible paddleboards.
