Emergency Planning for Persons with Disabilities-Information for Organizations

Updated on December 18, 2024

The older checklist described in the first document is still useful. It is meant to help emergency planners identify the key risk factors that may affect different population groups during emergencies and to prioritize responses. It is intended to provide an all-hazards approach to planning. These guides are meant to develop appropriate responses prior to emergencies occurring, to best ensure the safety of all community members.

Disability Alliance BC has a number of other resources for emergency planning for people with disabilities on their website.

We encourage people to share these resources with people in your community to help make your community safer for everyone in an emergency.
