Family Caregivers of British Columbia

Updated on October 16, 2024

The Family Caregivers Network Society provides services to family caregivers such as: family caregiver support groups, telephone or in-person caregiver support, information and referral to community resources, assistance in navigating the healthcare system, educational workshops, a resource library of books, videos and handouts, lunch and learn sessions for employees and more. This province wide resource not only provides support to caregivers for specific illnesses, but also support groups for spouses who need it.

The Resource Guide for Family Caregivers developed by the Society is an older but still relevant tool that talks about what it means to be a caregiver, helps caregivers identify the community supports available, tells readers about how to communicate with healthcare providers and choose the most apt home based services. It also talks about the decision making process when a long-term care facility is needed and how to manage when a family member is admitted into a hospital for care.

The Info Package for Family Caregivers is another document created by them to provide tips, awareness, tests, and a self-care checklist for caregivers.
