The Interdisciplinary Spasticity Management Clinic at GF Strong assists people in BC who have spasticity or increased muscle tone to better manage their symptoms.
The clinic includes a team of physiatrists (rehab physicians), nurses, an occupational therapist, and a physiotherapist. A thorough assessment is completed to determine what problems the spasticity may cause and to determine realistic goals.
Treatment options include education, exercise, bracing/splinting, walking aids, seating and positioning recommendations, oral medications, and focal injections such as botulinum toxin and phenol neurolysis. The clinic also makes referrals to the Intrathecal Baclofen Pump Clinic and consults with various surgeons to provide surgical management.
See the website for eligibility criteria and the outpatient program referral form, which must be completed by your doctor.
