Measuring Up: A guide to support communities in becoming more accessible and inclusive for all

Updated on March 3, 2025

The process of becoming more inclusive and accessible, as outlined in this guide, is led by the four guiding principles of Measuring Up: inclusive, practical, empowering and collaborative. This guide will support your community in identifying barriers to participation and taking action to overcome them in order to be more welcoming and inclusive for all.

In June 2010, the education and outreach component of the 2010 Legacies Now – Measuring Up program was transferred to SPARC BC.  In accepting responsibility for this program, the goal is to work with communities across BC to share “best practices” and to build on the work that has been put into place through 2010 Legacies Now.  The Measuring Up Coordinators help communities identify ways to strengthen and enhance accessibility and inclusion in their communities.
