The purpose of this manual is to instruct individuals on how to build their own ramp, and also to encourage organizations on how to become involved in meeting community needs.
One of the most notable characteristics of the design is the modular system which allows the ramp to be reused time and again. That same design also allows families to construct ramps at a much faster pace, when time is of the essence to get loved ones back together again.
The start of the project was made possible by the donation from the Minnesota Multiple Sclerosis Society for a tool kit to be used. The ideas created were modified through various state agency discussions, the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living staff, local building officials and private non-profit groups.
