This wallet reference card is a guide to people with SCI, caregivers and clinicians on how to prevent and appropriately treat urinary tract infections (UTI) associated with spinal cord injury and catheter use:
- Best clinical practices for empiric antibiotic therapy
- How to take an accurate urine sample for testing for users of indwelling catheters, leg bags, condom drainage and intermittent catheterization.
- How to spot signs of a UTI and when to seek medical treatment.
This resource was first created in 2019 by Spinal Cord Injury BC and clinicians from the Spinal Cord program at GF Strong Rehab Centre.
