Philanthropy has been a large part of Krystyna’s life since childhood. Growing up in a family of four sisters, Krystyna’s parents always encouraged a culture of giving into their children – whether it was through providing musical entertainment at senior living and care homes, or volunteering at community fundraisers and events. All of this and more led to Krystyna’s passion for helping others and her involvement in the non-profit sector.
After graduating from UBC in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, Chemistry and Earth Sciences, Krystyna joined the donations team at BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. She then moved on to the Corporate Partnerships team as a Philanthropy Associate, supporting corporations and community groups in their various fundraising endeavours. At this point, Krystyna knew that a career in philanthropy was the right path for her, and she stepped into the role of Donor Relations Officer at BCCHF to further develop her skills around donor stewardship and recognition.
Krystyna is incredibly honoured to be part of the SCI BC team and grateful for the opportunity to join this inspiring group of individuals as their Manager of Philanthropy in 2022. She is excited to use her experience and skills to help raise more funds for the organization, connect with and steward the amazing donors and supporters, and help make a difference in the lives of those with spinal cord injuries and their loved ones.
Outside of work, you can find Krystyna reading, taking care of her 30+ house plants, knitting and crocheting, or sharing her love of music through piano teaching. She also loves spending time with her family and friends and watching sunsets from her balcony.
