Island Health Travel assistance for non-emergency medical care – wheelchair users transportation

Updated on October 11, 2024

Island Health provides funding to eight contracted transportation providers, creating a transportation network supporting people in many rural and remote regions. These contractors provide door-to-door, non-emergency, patient transportation services, primarily facilitating trips to and from Island Health appointments, facilities, or locations. This includes transportation to appointments in a doctor’s office. The program Rural Remote is available for smaller communities.

Wheelchair users must provide three days notice to arrange for the accessible vans and trips can be booked via  email.
