This club has partnered with SCI BC on several peer events and are familiar with the needs of people with SCI.
The club is based in Loudon Park in Nanaimo at Long Lake, and they have two accessible kayaks, an accessible transfer kit, and a beach with a Mobi mat. There’s also an accessible fishing dock at Loudon Park just next to the accessible beach.
The transfer kit allows a person to transfer from their wheelchair to a bench at the same height and then slide over into the kayak. This can be done on land and the kayak is wheeled down to the water where the wheels are taken off. Contact them for details.
Weekly drop in sessions are available in the summer for a small fee; free with yearly membership.
