Event Day Photographer / Videographer

Spinal Cord Injury BC helps people living with spinal cord injury, and related disabilities adjust, adapt and thrive, whether they are dealing with a new injury or struggling with the ongoing challenges of living and aging with a physical disability.

Position Description

  • Photography of participants during events
  • Videography of a specific topic during events as instructed
  • Editing of photos post event
  • Editing of video post event
  • Providing SCI BC with all the footage post event

Time Commitment: 2-8 hours depending on the event

Qualifications

  • Some photography experience required
  • Ability to provide a portfolio of previous work
  • Owning equipment is necessary
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Professional, courteous and understanding
  • Ability to take direction when required

Accountability

You will report to the Communications Specialist and/or Marketing Specialist

General Event Day Volunteers

We need volunteers to help us with:

  • bringing supplies from the office to the event
  • set-up
  • registration
  • cooking
  • serving food and beverage
  • taking photos
  • take-down
  • returning supplies to the office

Time Commitment: min 2hrs

Qualifications

  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Professional and courteous
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Able to assist where needed; flexible
  • Own vehicle is an asset
  • Foodsafe is an asset

Accountability

You will report to the Event Manager and/or Volunteer Coordinator.

Peer Mentorship at GF Strong

Spinal Cord Injury BC helps people living with spinal cord injury, and related disabilities adjust, adapt and thrive, whether they are dealing with a new injury or struggling with the ongoing challenges of living and aging with a physical disability.

Position Description

SCI BC needs peer volunteers who have experienced rehab at GF Strong and have spinal cord injury to assist SCI BC Peer Coordinator staff to support and connect peers at our SCI Resource Centre office at GF Strong Rehab Centre in Vancouver. You’ll receive in person and online training in peer mentorship and SCI resources and support in BC.

Responsibilities

  • Share support and experiences with with clients at GF Strong Rehab Centre with new injuries and their families, and outpatient clients and visitors.
  • Provide coffee, hospitality and a listening ear to visitors to the Resource Centre office.
  • Help connect clients and family members to community supports and information.
  • Get peers involved in our busy summer events calendar and peer coffee groups.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with spinal cord injury and physical rehab at GF Strong Rehab Centre
  • Unique life experiences and interests to share
  • Non-judgemental listener, familiar with local supports and services for people with disabilities
  • Can reliably attend a scheduled volunteer shift

Time Commitment

  • 3-4 hour shifts between 11am and 3pm at least one weekday/month
  • There are shifts available as often as once a week, depending on your level of interest and time

Must be 19+ and able to pass a criminal record check.
