Virtual Care

These are various resources for virtual care services provided either provincially or regionally for free with BC MSP. Each has a detailed description, including the scope of practice:

Call 8-1-1:

Virtual physician consults are available by phone or by video, seven days a week between 9 am to 11 pm PT (upon referral by a Registered Nurse). A nurse will determine if further medical assessment by a doctor would help you get the best advice on when and where you should seek care. They may refer you to your family doctor or nurse practitioner, a health provider in your community or HealthLink BC physician services.

For health and nutrition concerns access a nurse or dietician on the phone or in web chat on the website.

Northern Health Virtual Clinic:

10 am to 10 pm PST 7 days a week at 1-844-645-7811

The clinic is made up of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health clinicians, a social worker and a physiotherapist. The Virtual Clinic is for people, with medical concerns, who are physically located in the Northern Health Region only. Press 1 to book an appointment with a doctor or nurse practitioner. Press 2 for mental health and substance use support.

Click ‘Book Now’ to start registering your information. If you are insured under the Medical Services Plan (MSP), your telehealth visits are covered. If not, you can still speak one of their telehealth physicians but will have to pay per visit. You must be located in Metro Vancouver in order to access Walk In’s virtual care clinic.

Telus Health MyCare:

See a doctor, psychologist, counsellor or dietitian from your phone, at your convenience. On the MyCare platform, you can book appointments with doctors for free, and with counsellors and dietitians for a fee. You can access MyCare services through the TELUS Health mobile app.

Tia Health:

Free in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia with a valid Health Card. Prescriptions, referrals, requisitions, and more.

Viva Care Telehealth:

If you are a resident of BC with a valid Personal Health Number you are qualified for this free telehealth service no matter where you live. Viva Care believes in providing the best quality of care and making it easily accessible to all. We recognize that it isn’t easy for you to come into a medical clinic. That is why we are proud to introduce this service to allow you to accomplish your medical needs from the comfort of your current location. We are the only group that allows you to see a doctor via video or phone call and have the opportunity to see the same physician in one of our clinics in person.

Mon – Fri: 8 am to 9 pm, Sat – Sun: 8 am to 4 pm (holidays may vary)
