These are various resources for virtual care services provided either provincially or regionally for that are covered by BC MSP. These are useful for times when you can’t get in to see your regular doctor or local walk-in clinic, for use during the winter when travel in your community is harder, and especially for those who do not have a family doctor.
For those without a family doctor, you should register on the Health Connect Registry to get matched to a doctor when there is availability in your community.
In the meantime, here is our list of virtual care options. Each has a detailed description, including the scope of practice:

Virtual physician consults are available by phone or by video, seven days a week between 9 am to 11 pm PT. A Registered Nurse will discuss your concerns and determine if further medical assessment by a doctor is necessary. They may refer you to your family doctor or nurse practitioner, a health provider in your community or HealthLink BC physician services through 811.

For health and nutrition concerns access a nurse or dietician on the phone or in web chat on the website. You may be referred to other resources in your community if the nurse cannot answer your concerns.
Northern Health Virtual Clinic:

The clinic is made up of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health clinicians, a social worker and a physiotherapist. The Virtual Clinic is for people, with complex medical concerns, who are physically located in the Northern Health Region only, with priority to those in rural or remote areas. Press 1 to book an appointment with a doctor or nurse practitioner. Press 2 for mental health and substance use support. Doctor’s appointments are for those who do not have their own doctor.

Click ‘Book Now’ to start registering your information. If you are insured under MSP, your telehealth visits are covered. If not, you can still speak one of their telehealth physicians but will have to pay per visit. You must be located in Metro Vancouver.
Telus Health MyCare:

See a doctor, psychologist, counsellor or dietitian from your phone, at your convenience. On the MyCare platform, you can book appointments with doctors for free, and with counsellors and dietitians for a fee. You can access MyCare services through the TELUS Health mobile app.
Tia Health:

Free for those with BC MSP. Services include prescriptions, referrals, requisitions, and more.
Viva Care Telehealth:

If you are a resident of BC with MSP you are eligible for this free telehealth service no matter where you live. Viva Care offers virtual and in-person (select locations) appointments.

Anyone with MSP can connect virtually to get medical advice, a prescription or a referral to a specialist from the comfort of home.

Avee HealthÂ

Free for BC residents with MSP. Visitors currently in BC must pay a fee. Services include prescriptions and lab requisitions. Narcotics cannot be prescribed by Avee. Referrals may be possible depending on the situation. Book an appointment online and receive a phone call at the specified time. Same day appointments may be possible.
